The first pivotal encounter I consciously made with my own intuition was when I knew I needed to end things with the guy I called my partner for over four years. It didn’t make sense on paper because we were a happy, stable and a picture-perfect couple (well, maybe that was exactly the problem). Something inside me simply knew that I needed to end the relationship and the predictable life that came with it. Looking back, I can clearly say that it was my intuition guiding me to a higher version of myself.
Before I delve into the topic of intuition, I want to acknowledge that following my intuition is a privilege not accessible to everyone. Many people are forced into conditions that simply don’t allow them to follow their intuitions even though they would like to. So, if you are free to do whatever you want, please know that you’re more blessed than you might think.
According to Google, intuition is the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. I agree. For me, intuition feels like a very strong literal pull in my gut. If I think of a scenario and get an excited, butterfly-like feeling, I know it’s the right choice. On the other hand, if I think of a scenario and don’t feel the same excitement or even resentment, I can be sure to avoid this outcome.
