I found the key to happiness on the hunt for Bánh Mì
What we can all learn from a little village in Vietnam.
When I visited Vietnam for the first time last year, it was love at first sight. Just like the feeling of finally meeting Mr. Right (not that this phenomenon has ever happened to me), I wondered: Where has this country been my whole life? While I couldn’t point out exactly what I loved about the culture back then, I now understand why life feels so good here. First of all, let me just point out that Vietnam hadn’t really been on my radar for a long time. Thanks to the talented Alyssa (@alyssa.donato), I knew I had to visit after she told me in an astrocartography session that I shouldn’t sleep on the opportunity to visit this country.
So yes, Vietnam and I were destined to meet.
I believe part of why we’re a great fit is because of our chaotic personalities. If you ever set foot in the country, you will probably know what I’m talking about. In these 1.5 years of traveling, there have been only a few places where I genuinely could have seen myself living. One of them happened to be Hoi An.
Therefore, the decision to stay in Hoi An was an easy one, and I opted for a cozy little room close to the beach. Exactly 5 days before my flight to Vietnam, I received a message from my host telling me that there had been a mistake in the booking.
